Summer Events

We're not quite ready for fall yet, but don't worry—there's still plenty of summer left in Central Virginia! If you're looking for ways to squeeze every last drop out of the season before fall arrives, be sure to check out some of our real estate agents' favorite end-of-summer festivals and events in the Richmond area. 

  • From Here to There Summer Exhibit - 2626 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220
    A perfect opportunity for kids to be entertained and educated before returning to school this year, the From Here to There Exhibit at the Richmond Children's Museum runs through September 5, 2025. Exploring the science of movement, this hands-on exhibit includes multiple areas where kids can launch a hot air balloon, ride a hovercraft and operate a canal lock system to explore how things move by land, air and water. It's a fascinating exhibit just minutes from these Richmond homes for sale.

  • Liberty or Death Reenactments - 2401 E Broad St, Richmond, VA 23223
    Held every Sunday from now through the end of August, Liberty or Death Reenactments at the Historic St. John's Church bring history to life in Richmond. Ideal for kids age 6 and up, these reenactments will return attendees to the time of the American Revolution, witnessing Patrick Henry give his iconic speech in the place where it really happened.

  • Youthful Beginnings Shrimp and BBQ Feast - 13580 Ashland Rd, Ashland, VA 23005
    Just a short drive from Richmond in the beautiful community of Ashland, the Hanover Vegetable Farm hosts a wide range of events and festivities throughout the year. Food fanatics will certainly want to mark their calendars for September 6, when the farm hosts the 5th Annual Shrimp & BBQ Feast, presented by Youthful Beginnings Medi-Spa. The festival includes all-you-can-eat shrimp and a spectacular fireworks display

  • 43rd Street Festival of the Arts - 1412 W 43rd St, Richmond, VA 23225
    One of Richmond's most celebrated arts and crafts festivals returns on September 13, 2025. The 43rd Street Festival of the Arts takes place in the charming Forest Hill neighborhood, bringing together a juried group of 75 local and regional artisans. A wide array of mediums will be represented, from fine art and photography to handmade jewelry and pottery. The festival runs from 10 am to 4 pm and also includes live music and food vendors.  

  • Iron Blossom Music Festival - 2401 W Leigh St, Richmond, VA 23220
    One of the biggest music festivals of the year in the Richmond Area, the Iron Blossom Music Festival is a huge event that officially marks the end of summer. Taking place on September 20 and 21—the weekend before the Autumnal Equinox—this festival will he held at Midtown Green, a beautiful 15-acre site in the heart of Richmond. Expect some major artists at this much-anticipated event, including Vampire Weekend, Khruangbin and the Lumineers.
