Even when the weather is cold, Richmond is hot, hot, hot! There's always something to do here in the Richmond area, and our real estate agents want to be sure you're a part of it. Richmond is known for its busy social calendar and its great cultural events all year long, and there's plenty on the agenda this winter!

Let's take a look at just a few of the best winter festivals in Richmond:

28th Annual First Friday – 208 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220
28th Annual First Friday is the continuation of a local classic celebrated by Anne's Visual Art Studio Gallery. As one of the oldest businesses of its kind in Richmond, Anne's hosts a get-together every year to celebrate all the things that make Richmond special. This year, it will happen on February 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. – and it will be free! Open to the public, it champions the arts by providing gallery space that never turns local artists away. Its goal is to sell all the gallery's pieces each month so it can always start fresh with brand-new exhibitions.
Goodyear's Serenade for Strings – 600 East Grace Street, Richmond, VA 23219
Goodyear's Serenade for Strings is happening on January 31 at 7:30 p.m. sharp and is sure to be one of the most gripping performances of the season. Artist in Residence Stewart Goodyear is known for his rhythmic precision. A master of the Serenade for Strings, he will be joined on stage by Julia Perry, who will share her stylings on the strings. The evening will close with 15-year-old Felix Mendelssohn performing the First Symphony. Conductor Valentina Peleggi will also play an indispensable role in this evening at the Perkinson Center.
The Practice of Oral Histories – 248 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220
The Practice of Oral Histories is sponsored by the Virginia Museum of Art & Culture. It seeks to put oral history back in the hands of ordinary people, where it originated throughout much of human history. Participants will hear from practicing historians about the techniques of oral history and how to use them. Plus, you can also visit current exhibits where oral history is used to explore the Vietnam War, the Civil War and much more. It takes place on February 8, starting at 10:30 a.m. and ending at half past noon. Tickets are just $10.
Virginia Wine Expo – See Website for Venue Information in Richmond, VA
Sponsored by Publix, the grocery store known far and wide for its delicious sandwiches on bakery fresh bread, the Virginia Wine Expo is the biggest event of its kind here on the eastern seaboard. In addition to hundreds of wines from all over the United States and the world, you can also enjoy a variety of other events. Each will celebrate food and spirits in a different way. A few of these include "SMOKED," a celebration of the best in smoked cuisine taking place at the Dewey Gottwald Center, "Tequilabamba," and several others. It will all happen from February 28 through March 8 at various locations scattered across Richmond, so check the website for details.
