Richmond Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day approaches, which means a summer of fun is right behind. Celebrate the holiday weekend with this diverse assortment of activities near Richmond homes for sale that are recommended by our REALTORS®.

  • FlavorTown Experience: Vegan Creole Feast - Natalie's, 2925 Hathaway Rd., Richmond, VA 23225
    Breaking Bread Company, Richmond's source for innovative catering and chef services, launches their inaugural pop-up restaurant with FlavorTown Experience: Vegan Creole Feast. The four-course meal marries zesty Cajun flavors with plant-based ingredients in dishes such as Seafood Étoufée Lasagna. Chef Alex will be on hand mixing custom cocktails. Mark your calendar for 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Monday, May 27. Tickets are $55.

  • R&B Memorial Day Midnight Cruise - 4521 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231
    Night time is the right time for the R&B Memorial Day Midnight Cruise. Board the motorcoach at 8:30 p.m. and enjoy refreshments until the 10:30 p.m. arrival in Norfolk. Spend the next two hours cruising the Elizabeth River aboard the Spirit of Norfolk, dining at the moonlight buffet, and dancing to R&B tunes spun by a live DJ. Arrive back in Richmond at approximately 3 a.m. The 21+ event takes place on Saturday, May 25, and tickets, which include everything but the cash bar, are $110.

  • Glass Artist Market - The Glass Ceiling, 106 Robinson St. (rear), Richmond, VA 23220
    Start the summer art festival season with Glass Artist Market at The Glass Ceiling. This artist-run workshop offers an assortment of stunning dishware, jewelry, and other blown-glass pieces for sale in addition to classes for all levels of experience. During the market, a variety of pieces showcasing a number of different techniques and approaches will be on display. Light refreshments will be served. Hours are 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Friday, May 24, and admission is free.

  • Commonwealth of Virginia's 68th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony - Virginia War Memorial 621 S. Belvidere St., Richmond, VA 23220
    Take time to honor the true meaning of the holiday at the Commonwealth of Virginia's 68th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Guest speakers and patriotic music pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There will also be a laying of wreaths in the Shrine of Memory: 20th Century. Afterward, tour the exhibit halls and the stunning grounds overlooking downtown Richmond and the James River. The ceremony runs from 11 a.m. - noon on Monday, May 27, and the Memorial is open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Maymont - 1000 Westover Rd., Richmond, VA 23220
    When you visit Maymont, you'll have a hard time believing you're still in the city. The 100-acre estate encompasses a historic mansion, an arboretum and gardens, and a working animal farm. One of the more popular draws is the Robins Nature Center, subtitled "Run of the River." The 29,000-square-foot facility is the largest attraction of its kind in Central Virginia, with nearly 30,000 gallons of aquaria featuring animals of the James River and Chesapeake Bay. Interactive features include River Reach, a 34-foot-tall sculpture with several netted rising platforms, and two digital pool touch stations. Maymont is open daily from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., and there is no entrance fee. Hours at the Nature Center are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Tickets are $6-$8.
