Richmond Outdoors

With all the natural beauty surrounding Richmond homes for sale, there's no such thing as the "dark days" of winter. Our REALTORS® and their families brighten their days at these entertaining events and activities.

  • Storytime in the Garden - Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Ave., Richmond, VA 23228
Storytime in the Garden is back for another season of helping kids develop a love of nature. After the group reads two books spotlighting various nature topics, everyone participates in a fun craft project inside the Lora M. Robins Library. Readings are held outside amid the glory of the Cup Oak trees, with sessions moving inside the library during inclement weather. Storytime is held every Friday at 10 a.m. beginning on February 2 and admission is free.

  • Galentine's Day Market - Hardywood Richmond, 2410 Ownby Ln., Richmond, VA 23220
Is shopping the one true love that never lets you down? Spend some quality time with your "significant other" at the Galentine's Day Market. For the third year, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery is hosting this event showcasing local women-owned businesses. Shop 'til you drop for one-of-a-kind items, including home decor, art, jewelry and apparel. Market hours are 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 11 and admission is free.

  • Rockwood Nature Center - 3401 Courthouse Rd., North Chesterfield, VA 23236
Explore the wonder of nature with a visit to Rockwood Nature Center. Start out by viewing the reptiles, amphibians, and honeybee hive on display in a log cabin-style building, then take in some first-hand sights of nature on more than five miles of paved and unpaved trails behind the cabin. Throughout the year, the center hosts hikes, lectures, craft sessions and a variety of programs, including one specifically for pre-K kids. Hours are noon - 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, expanding to Tuesday through Sunday during summer.

  • Murals in Richmond Art Walk: The Fan-tastic Downtown Dash - Downtown Richmond, VA
Public art adds colorful visual appeal and character to downtown RVA and the historic Fan District. Challenge your detective skills as you learn more about different works during Murals in Richmond Art Walk: The Fan-tastic Downtown Dash. The digital scavenger hunt offers trivia-based clues to find each mural along with delightful stories about Richmond's past. An app leads you through the scavenger hunt, so you can conduct it any time that's convenient and take breaks to visit places along the way. Each player requires a ticket, which is $12.99 and good for a single use within two years. Annual unlimited couples and family/friends passes are also available.

  • Richmond Chocolate, Wine & Whiskey Festival - Main Street Station, 1500 E. Main St., Richmond, VA 23219
They may not technically qualify as main food groups, but you'll find lots of great tastes at the Richmond Chocolate, Wine & Whiskey Festival. Your sweet tooth will be in seventh heaven with a wide array of chocolates, desserts, cookies and candies. Pick up an artisan cheese or charcuterie board to pair with your wine, whiskey, or one of the other first-rate spirits that will be featured. Local vendors will be on hand selling clothing, craftwork, and more. The setting is RVA's historic Main Street Station, which dates back to 1901. Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 15 with two 3-hour sessions beginning at 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets range from $59-$90.
