Wild Kratts®: Creature Power!® - Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 W. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23220
The beloved PBS educational show comes to Richmond with Wild Kratts®: Creature Power!® This day-long adventure takes visitors through a series of challenges to explore the relationship between animals and their habitats. Help the Wild Kratts team use STEM skills to foil villainous plans against nature. The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 31. Admission is included in the museum ticket price, which is $10-$17.
Willie Anne Wright: Artist and Alchemist - Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 200 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd., Richmond, VA 23220
View the stunning works of a groundbreaking Richmond-based artist with Willie Anne Wright: Artist and Alchemist, a fascinating exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Throughout her incredible 60-year career, Wright has turned her artistic eye on feminine identity, the South's cultural landscape, and other intriguing topics. The exhibit showcases 10 paintings and more than 230 photographs. December 31 hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and admission is free.
Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights - Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Ave., Richmond, VA 23228
Don't miss the last chance to enjoy one of the holiday season's more spectacular light displays at Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights. The sights and sounds of "Rhythms of Nature," this year's theme, envelop you as you walk through the grounds. Other features include model trains, a warming fire with hot chocolate and s'mores, and student-decorated trees in the Lora Robins Library. GardenFest is open from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. on December 31. Advance tickets must be purchased for a specific time slot. Admission is $5-$20.
James River Art League Exhibit - Swift Creek Mill Theater, 17401 Rte. 1 S., Chesterfield, VA 23834
Central Virginia has a rich artistic tradition that has given rise to works in watercolor, photography, sculpture, and other creative media. The James River Art League Exhibit brings an impressive selection of these pieces to the community near Chesterfield homes for sale. More than 130 juried member artists make up the league, which promotes the creation and appreciation of visual arts through programs and exhibits. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Monday, January 1 and admission is free.
SwimRVA New Year's Challenge - 5050 Ridgedale Pkwy., Richmond, VA 23234
Even if "exercise more" isn't on your list of resolutions, you'll feel amazing when you participate in the SwimRVA New Year's Challenge. The format involves completing 100-yard swims on an interval that includes a brief rest period, so you can set your own goal. Tiered entrance fees increase as the date of the event approaches, so sign up early. Check-in begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 31, and it's everyone in the pool from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Bubbly Weekend - James River Cellars Winery, 11008 Washington Hwy., Glen Allen, VA 23059
Share a toast to the new year with family and friends during Bubbly Weekend at James River Cellars Winery, just minutes from Glen Allen homes for sale. The tasting room will be featuring four types of sparkling wine from France, Italy, and Spain to demonstrate different grapes and regions.
