Turkey Trots

There are always a bunch of local events to look forward to when you live in the Richmond area! Plus, the fantastic fall weather makes it so you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or jog while taking in the fall scenery.

This year, our real estate agents plan to celebrate Thanksgiving with a new tradition of physical activity. Before settling in for a day of food and football, enjoy some healthy fun at these holiday run/walk events around Richmond homes for sale. Sign up for one of these Turkey Trots or other 5k events coming to the Richmond area this fall.

  • Better2gether Halloween Hustle 5K - Performance Food Group, 12500 West Creek Pkwy., Richmond, VA 23238
Make room for turkey by burning some Halloween candy calories at the Better2gether Halloween Hustle 5K. Costumes are highly recommended for this run along scenic West Creek Parkway. There's also a Hocus Pocus Run for kids ages 12 and under. Additional activities include games and allergy-friendly trick-or-treating. Race time is 8:30 a.m. for the kids and 9 a.m. for the 5K on Saturday, October 28. Registration fees are $20-$40.

  • West End Orthodontics Turkey Trot - Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Rd., Glen Allen, VA 23060
Families of children with serious medical issues often struggle with the financial burden of crucial treatments. Proceeds from the West End Orthodontics 5K Turkey Trot benefit We Heart Harlie & Friends, a non-profit organization that supports medically fragile kids. If you need more incentive, the finish line will have hot chocolate, Krispy Kreme donuts, and other assorted refreshments. Take your mark at the start line, only minutes from Glen Allen homes for sale, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 23. Registration fees start at $30.

  • RRRC Turkey Trot - Bryan Park, 4308 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, VA 23227
Looking for more of a challenge? Double the course length and double the feeling of accomplishment at the RRRC Turkey Trot 10K. The yearly run is put on by the Richmond Road Runners Club, an all-volunteer, non-profit group with a goal to promote the benefits of running and an overall healthy lifestyle. For shorter legs that aren't up to a 10K, there is a half-mile Kids Run for ages 2-10. Race time is 8:30 a.m. for the Kids Run and 9 a.m. for the 10K on Thursday, November 23. Registration fees start at $30, with no charge for the Kids Run.

  • 2023 Jingle Bell Run - 3201 Maplewood Ave, Richmond, VA
Sure, we might be skipping ahead holiday-wise for this one, but the 2023 Jingle Bell Run is another fantastic local fun run that benefits a great cause. Set to benefit the Arthritis Foundation, this 5k event takes place at City Stadium. This is a great one to include the kids in since Santa will be there taking pictures and there will be a Reindeer Dash for them to participate in. The event is set for the morning of November 18 at 9:00 a.m.
