Richmond Ice Cream

When you move to the RVA, you're getting a vibrant local culture, strong and diverse economy, and plenty of natural beauty. One of the things we're best known for around here is the great diversity of dining options!

And if you've got a craving for an ice cream cone, you won't be disappointed!

Our real estate agents know that young or old, sometimes you just need to indulge your sweet tooth. Around Richmond homes for sale, you can find dozens of small, locally-owned ice cream shops and cafes. Each one is packed with sweet treats that will keep you coming back for more.

Let's take a closer look at just a few of your many local options:

  • Gelati Celesti – 3004 Stony Point Road, Richmond, VA 23235
Gelati Celesti describes itself as "A Moment of Pure Joy," with handmade ice cream that aims to be truly heavenly. Try the classic Butter Pecan or the Margarita Sorbetto, to name just a few of their many flavor options.

  • Blue Cow Ice Cream Co – 7029 Three Chopt Road, Richmond, VA 23226
Blue Cow Ice Cream Co has seventeen vivid and imaginative flavors to choose from right in Richmond. Some of the most popular of these include mainstays like Birthday Cake, Chocolate Brownie, Cookies and Cream, Goat Cheese with Blueberry Swirl, and Strawberry Balsamic. There are also several non-dairy options, with the Non-Dairy Chocolate being an excellent option. There are multiple locations throughout the RVA for you to stop at, including one in Henrico.

  • Spotty Dog Ice Cream – 2416 Jefferson Avenue, Richmond, VA 23223
Open until 8 p.m. on most nights, with extended hours on Saturday and Sunday, Spotty Dog Ice Cream has an ever-rotating list of flavors that will entice you to visit whenever you're in the area. Each day brings about a dozen new options featuring gluten-free and vegan picks, plus full dairy. Malted Madagascar, Miso PBJ, and Movie Night are among those you won't see anywhere else.

  • Coco + Hazel – 411 North Ridge Road, Richmond, VA 23229
Coco + Hazel is a great place for ice cream cones, but it is probably best known for its shakes. These are beautifully decorated, carefully balanced, and packed with amazing mix-ins like big pieces of cake or cookies. The original Cake Shake is a "can't miss," along with the Blackout, Candy Land, Rosengarten, MHB, and the Coconutty. There's even one that's dine-in only: The Mexican hot chocolate Oaxacan.

  • Westray's Cafe – 214 North Lombardy Street, Richmond, VA 23220
Westray's Cafe is the brainchild of Westray Paul, who fled from a tedious job in industrial logistics to follow his passion for ice cream. After an eventful Brooklyn apprenticeship under some of the leading ice cream connoisseurs in the industry, Westray's Cafe received a warm welcome here in Richmond. Its fans rave about the ice cream, the coffee, and the iconic date cake.

  • Sweet Spot Ice Cream Cafe – 6 North 18th Street, Richmond, VA 23223
Sweet Spot Ice Cream Cafe is the place to go when you want to "Start with Coffee, End with Dessert." There's really something for everyone here since the sumptuous selection embraces sugarless, non-dairy, and other alternative options.
