  • Maymont - 1000 Westover Rd., Richmond, VA 23220
For nearly a century, Maymont has been a popular destination for locals and tourists. Tour the stunning 33-room mansion, stroll through specialty gardens, and interact with animals at the Maymont Farm and Robins Nature Center. • The National - 708 E. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23219
With wooden floors and brick walls creating an impressively polished appearance, The National is described as "a music lover's fantasyland." The venue was one of the first in the country to install a state-of-the-art V-DOSC sound system. Relax in one of the padded stadium seats in the balcony or get your dance on the open first floor. Views are great from any spot, but video screens and monitors ensure that you don't miss a thing.

Upcoming shows include Mark Morris Dance Group (1/27) and Joshua Redman (2/15).

Gallery5 serves as a showcase for both contemporary arts and Richmond's historical legacy. The gallery is housed in Steamer Company No. 5, which has been designated as a National Historic Landmark. This building in the Jackson Ward district is the oldest firehouse in Virginia, as well as Richmond's oldest police station and jailhouse. An upstairs gallery features exhibits from local, international, and up-and-coming artists. Live shows encompass all forms of art, including dance, film, comedy, spoken word, and theater. Admission is free on the first Friday of every month.
