Plan Ahead for the 2022 Richmond Oktoberfest
It's never too early to start planning for the Richmond Oktoberfest, with this year's event expected to be bigger and better than ever. The 2022 edition is the 52nd annual Richmond Oktoberfest and will be taking place at the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond Raceway. This two-day event features all of the charms of a traditional German Oktoberfest celebration, with a convenient location near Richmond homes for sale and a packed schedule of events. Two Days Packed with Food, Drink, Dancing, and Entertainment
The 52nd Annual Richmond Oktoberfest is organized by the Richmond Oktoberfest non-profit organization and has been a staple on the annual calendar since the first event in 1969. The Richmond Oktoberfest is designed to be just like the Oktoberfest celebrations that you'll find in smaller cities and towns all around Germany. That means you can expect plenty of dancing, food, music, live entertainment, and German beers throughout the two-day celebration.
- Live Entertainment
Get in a celebratory mood with live music from local bands with a German twist. The headline performers include the ACCA Sauerkraut Band and Die Lustigen Almdudler, with live performances happening on both days of the event. Learn a few steps from the Hirschjager Bavarian Dancers, and dance the night away in the authentic German Biergarten. The live music starts at the beginning of the festival each day and continues throughout the whole evening. - Enjoy the Annual Parade
The first night of the event is highlighted by the annual parade, where the queen of Oktoberfest will be crowned. The Grand March starts with remarks from the president of the Richmond Oktoberfest non-profit organization and a speech from a representative of the German Embassy. After the parade, stick around for more live music and the annual Beer Stein Hoisting Contest to cap off the evening. - Fantastic Food and Drink
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Oktoberfest celebration without some authentic German cuisine and outstanding beer. You can enjoy food from the buffet stand, where you'll find favorites like the sausage plate, roast pork plate, and sausage sampler. For a quick bite, stop by the snack stand to sample tasty treats like potato pancakes with applesauce and jalapeno-filled pretzels. The beer and wine stands offer a diverse selection of German beverages, while the soft drink stand features drinks for younger attendees. For dessert, stop by the bakery stand to sample cakes, pastries, and more.
Know Before You Go
Already planning ahead for this year's Richmond Oktoberfest? You can purchase your tickets in advance online or at the door. The cost per ticket is $15. There's a discount on tickets available for seniors and military members. Children 15 and under can attend the event free of charge.
