Kitchen Appliances Upgrade

When is the last time you thought about your kitchen from the eyes of a stranger? When you look at something every day, it's easy to stop seeing the things other people would notice, such as dated appliances. Here are a few guidelines our real estate agents give for when you should upgrade your kitchen appliances, based on the homes they see regularly.

  1. They're getting old.
Take a moment and think about how old your appliances are. If they are older than 10 or (gulp) 20 years old, it's probably time to replace them. Even though they might still work fine, upgrading means taking advantage of exciting new features. Not to mention, if an old appliance goes out unexpectedly, it could leave you on the hook until you can get it replaced. Not sure how old your appliances are? If you don't know, that probably means they are long past due for replacement.

  2. Your appliances are mismatched.
Houses all start out with matching appliances for that new house look, but as they stop working, they often get replaced one at a time. Most likely, this also means they're all older, and probably basic models as well.

  3. They're not meeting your needs.
Of course, the biggest sign that you need new appliances is that they no longer meet your needs. If your refrigerator doesn't offer intuitive storage or enough space for your family, if you really need a double oven for all the cooking you do, or if your dishwasher no longer cleans your dishes, it's probably time to think about springing for an overhaul of all your kitchen appliances.

  4. Your kitchen needs updating.
Maybe it's not just your appliances that need to be updated. Vintage can be quaint or even trendy in other areas of the house, but in the kitchen, it's just old. If you're tired of your kitchen looking like it came out of a home magazine from 30 years ago, a new counter and backsplash, refaced cupboards, and a new set of matching appliances can go a long way toward refreshing your kitchen.

  5. Your old appliances are energy hogs.
Maybe it's not about cooking, or even how your kitchen looks. Old appliances tend to use a lot more energy than newer models, especially when compared with new energy-efficient appliances. Save some money on your energy bill, and maybe the planet, too, while you're at it by installing new appliances.

  6. You're excited about the cool new features.
We're seeing a lot of exciting new appliances these days in Richmond homes for sale! Check out today's top models to find the latest and the greatest. Smart fridges can keep track of what's inside and alert you when you're getting low on something. Smart ovens allow you to start your oven remotely so that it's already preheated by the time you get home. And with hygiene being a top concern these days, some fridges now come equipped with UV sterilizing lights and disinfecting drawers.

Remodeling your kitchen may seem like a big hassle, but something as simple as replacing all the appliances with a stylish matching set can do wonders for how it looks.
